Western Rackets Squash Tournament Serves Up a Weekend of Exciting Action
Friday, 25 & Saturday 26 October 2025 – Western Rackets was alive with energy as the club hosted the highly anticipated Laurie Duncker squash tournament, drawing strong participation from players and fans from Newcastle, Randburg, Van der Bijl Park and Western Rackets.. The event proved to be a resounding success, celebrating athletic excellence, community spirit, and a shared love for the game.
Strong Turnout and Competitive Spirit
The tournament featured a packed schedule with matches across two divisions. Players displayed impressive skill and determination, with several matches going down to the wire in thrilling fashion.
Tournament coordinator Richard King praised both the competitors and the event team for their efforts, saying,
 “This year’s tournament was one of our best yet. The level of play was exceptional, and the support from our members and squash enthusiasts made it a truly memorable weekend.”
Beyond the courts, the club created a lively atmosphere with refreshments, great ,, and family-friendly activities, making the weekend enjoyable for both participants and spectators. Sponsors and local businesses also contributed to the event’s success, underscoring the community’s growing support for squash.
Western Rackets’ management expressed gratitude to all players, volunteers, and supporters who made the event possible, noting that plans are already underway for an even bigger tournament next year.

Looking Ahead
Richard King announced that plans are already underway for next year’s event, which will be hosted at Randburg Squash Centre.  This will be followed by Van der Bijl Park (MIttal) in 2027, Newcastle in 2027 before returning to Western Rackets in 2028.
